Movie Review: Fred Claus

By PRyck
The holiday season is in full swing this year and the Christmas movies have been out for awhile now, and seeing how I am lacking the holiday spirit I decided to watch Fred Claus, hoping to lift my spirits.

It didn't do much for my Christmas spirits, but it did provide for some humorous moments. The cast of Fred Clause is surprisingly nice, with Paul Giamatti (Santa), Rachel Weisz (Vaughns love interest), and Kevin Spacey playing the sneaking evil character of Clyde Northcut.

Vince Vaughn plays as Fred Claus who is a self centered selfish man who only looked out for himself and cared for no one else. He especially disliked the holiday seasons because is younger brother, Nickolaus Clause (Paul Giamatti) is Santa. Fred Clause is trying to start up a gambling business and is in need of some serious cash and the only way to get it is to help up in the North Pole. Once he arrives is when the story unfolds. Vaughn does what he does best by providing for some funny rants and one liners. Paul Giamatti is always great a whatever character he undertakes. As for Kevin Spacey he does a fine job at playing the bad guy ah la Super Man Returns.

With all the well known great actors I did expect something more than what I got. Through out the whole movie there were wacky corny sound bits that, for me, made the whole movie seem comical, corny, and a joke. Over all a good movie for the kids, but if you aren't under the age of 14 or have no kids, just by pass this movie all together. There are much better movies out.
