Movie Review: Gone Baby Gone
Casey Affleck plays Patrick Kenzie, a private detective who knows his way around the neighborhoods of Boston. A little girl was kidnapped and the aunt and uncle come to Patrick with the case. Patrick has a partner and lover named Angie Gennaro. (Michelle Monaghan) This duo was at first reluctant at taking this job, but soon began to want to help this little girl out.
They soon meet with the girl's mother, Helene McCready, who is a low life, drug pushing, coke using mother. Once Patrick begins to delve deeper in Helen's life and the people she is around he begins to piece it all together. Along for the help on the police department side is Deputy Remy Bressant played by Ed Harris. Remy will do anything to keep a child safe, and as this movie goes on we soon find out just how far he will go.
After coming to the conclusion that the kid was in fact kidnapped and still alive, Patrick begins to figure out why this has happened and who is behind it. As the story unfolds, we as the audience will be on a roller coaster ride all the way until the ending and a decision that Patrick must make.
To me this movie had nothing new to give and looked dull with the previews. Gone Baby Gone proved to be a great movie with a great story, characters and a good feel to it. Some twists and turns leading to the conclusion added for some great suspense that made you want to keep watching. Casey Affleck is a rising star and this movie just solidifies that.
