Move Review: Shoot 'Em Up

By PRyck
With a cast that includes Clive Owen, Paul Giamatti, and Monica Bellucci, one would think that Shoot Em Up would be a spectacular movie and very well made. I'll say it straight up, Shoot Em Up isn't anything spectacular, but an over all entertaining movie. Did I mention Monica Bellucci?

The story begins with a huge over the top gun fight with Smith (Clive Owen) and a pregnant lady, who is being attacked for unknown reasons. In the first five minutes of the movie easily thirty people die at the hand of Smith. This provides some cool action and a whole lot of guns blazing.

After all is done the baby is born and the mama is shot dead. Hertz (Paul Giamatti) shows up shooting everything as well. Smith is left with this baby and wondering why Hertz and his entourage is after it. The only thing that comes to mind is to bring it to Bellucci's character, Donna, a hooker who lactates for money. Weird, I know.

With Donna taking care of the baby, Smith is able to figure out just what is going on. This leads to more killing, a founder of a gun company endorsing a presidential nominee and of course an evil politician behind it all. Oh yeah, and more killing.

Shoot 'Em Up is meant to be a spoof of all the action movies and all the one liners that come with them. In this movie there are more people killed then any other flick I can think of. Three great actors in a decent, action, no brainer of a shooter movie. Just go into Shoot 'Em Up with the mind set that it is way over the top fun.
