Movie Review: License to Wed

By PRyck
Another feel good, make you want to tear up, love story that lacks anything intelligent. License to Wed is just that and a whole lot less. A very predictable movie that is dull and dumb through and through with the exception of Robin Williams of course.

Robin Williams plays Frank, a reverend at a church, he created a course where couples looking to marry must go through in order to use the church "St. Augustine's" for a wedding. The couple to be is Sadie Jones (Mandy Moore) and Ben Murphy (John Krasinski) who, in the beginning, are the perfect couple. They would like to get married at Sadie's favorite church St. Augustine's which means the two must go through this marriage course. It ends up that the church is booked for another two years, or, a wedding in three weeks.

Reverend Frank's course is supposed to be three months long, but Sadie and Ben only have three weeks to complete it and pass in order to get married. In those three weeks, they must do role reversals, carry around fake babies and no sex until the honeymoon. Ben Murphy doesn't like any of this but must go through it to show his ever lasting love for Sadie. Through out the course the couple begin to bicker and fight leading to an abrupt wedding cancellation and to Ben having to find his lost love once again.

License to Wed is very predictable. The moment Ben popped the question it was easy to see where this movie was headed. There are a few laughs, all from Robin Williams, but other than that this movie is bland and truly pointless. I say pointless because there have been countless other movies exactly like this, all of which weren't good to begin with. Also if you like the actors in The Office, then you may like this movie because half of the cast is in License to Wed.

I would recommend License to Wed for anybody needing a thoughtless movie to unwind a bad day with. Other than that your missing nothing here.
